COMPARATIVE STUDY 2020
COMPARATIVE STUDY 2020
On November 7th, 2020, Accounting Student Association of Prasetiya Mulya University successfully conducted their first online comparative study with Singapore Institute of Management Accounting Association (SIMAA). Due to the pandemic, it was conducted online through Zoom. Comparative study is an annual event organized by ASA Prasetiya Mulya University, where two accounting associations come together to discuss about each other’s organization, work programs, and experiences as an accounting association. This year, the theme of the comparative study is “Moving Forward Through Diversity”. Through this comparative study, ASA Prasetiya Mulya University aims to establish a good relationship with SIMAA, as well as a positive learning and knowledge exchange experience with the diversity that exists.
The comparative study began with the opening remarks of the two MCs, Matthew Giovanni Raharja Sutanto and Keysha Syahira. Then, it was followed with an opening speech from Jennipher Suhamdy as the Chairman of Comparative Study, Karin Latif as the President of ASA Prasetiya Mulya University, and last but not least, Pim Yan as the President of Singapore Institute of Management Accounting Association.
The event kicked off with presentations from both ASA Prasetiya Mulya University and the Singapore Institute of Management Accounting Association about the vision and mission, organization structure, as well as the job descriptions of each division and work programs of each accounting associations. There were Q&A sessions at the end of each presentation for both ASA Prasetiya Mulya University and the Singapore Institute of Management Accounting Association to get to know each other better. The event continued with a fun game session through ‘Kahoot’, with exciting rewards for the top three winners. Finally, the participants were divided into several breakout rooms for a sharing session and discussion related to both accounting associations. The comparative study ended with a photo session.
Although it was conducted online, both accounting associations were eager to get to know and learn from each other. We were able to gain knowledge as well as new friends from the Singapore Institute of Management Accounting Association. Hopefully, ASA Prasetiya Mulya University and the Singapore Institute of Management Accounting Association will meet again at other events in the near future!
